How it works, in detail

   The calendar is already there, and it is dated

   The Québec statutory holidays that apply to your decree ship with their dates, year after year. They appear in the schedule as days of their own, and there is no list to maintain and no date to carry over each January.

   The indemnity follows the decree's formula, not a house average

   Every decree has its own way of computing holiday pay: an average of the preceding weeks, a percentage of the period's wages, or a rule specific to the parity committee. The applicable formula ships with the decree and is centralised: when it changes, it changes everywhere at once.

   Who qualifies, and on what basis

   Eligibility is assessed per employee against the decree's criteria: presence before and after the holiday, seniority, status. An employee who does not qualify is not paid by mistake, and one who does qualify does not depend on someone paying attention.
