How it works, in detail

   The approver sees what they are approving

   A request is more than a date range: the decision screen shows the days exactly as they would be posted, day by day, with their hours, and flags the worked shift that would disappear that day. Approving writes the absence into the schedule under the applicable decree's rules and removes the covered shifts; declining requires a reason, which the employee receives.

   The balance is read at decision time, never frozen at filing

   Between the moment a request is filed and the moment it is decided, the balance moves: another request was approved, a pay period was locked. Available hours are therefore recomputed on every view, along with any overdraft. That is information, not a refusal: management can knowingly approve beyond the balance. The banks themselves are debited when payroll locks, as with any planned absence.

   Your rules, set once

   You decide whether requests go through the app, with what minimum notice (14 days by default, never required for sick leave, which nobody plans ahead), what maximum length per request, whether weekends count inside a vacation week, and whether supervisors are notified alongside administrators. While a request is still pending, the employee can withdraw it themselves.
